Classic Seminars

Classic First-Year Seminars reflect the foundational approach to First-Year Seminars and feature small, interactive courses.

Class First-Year Seminars, or FYS, emphasize the instructor's unique intellectual interests, leading to diverse topics and providing a core experience of intellectual exchange, critical thinking and community building for incoming students, often with more informal settings than standard courses.

Classic FYS courses tap into the shared curiosity of UC Davis students and their instructors to create communities of people excited to learn.
